TRIPS
I'm quite happy with the trips I took last year. There were a few big trips, which broadened my view. I was gonna post some travel notes, but for some reasons (either busy or lazy), it didn't happen as often as I wanted. Well, I still have some blogging ideas in mind. It's just that the posts might come out short and unorganized. Of course, there are always more places to visit. Hope I can present an even more satisfying list at the end of this year. In fact, I've already started thinking about my next trip!
- Catskills, NY: 01/22. Snowshoeing for the first time!
- Maryland, Washington DC: 03/04-03/08. Cambridge, MD → Arlington, VA → DC. Great meeting up with old friends and getting to know new people.
- Delaware, Maryland, Virginia: 03/11-03/13. A trip into the nature. Camped near the seashore on Assateague Island National Park.
- Lancaster, PA: 05/13. Pennsylvania Railroad Museum (We didn’t go in the museum, but only looked at the trains outside.) → the Amish Village.
- Greece: 05/20-07/03. Worked on Crete and toured Athens.
- New Jersey: 10/08. Johnson's Corner Farm (apple and pumpkin picking)
- New Jersey: 11/12. WoodsEdge Wool Farm (alpacas and llama) → Grounds for Sculpture.
- Massachusettes + Rhode Island: 11/24-11/27. Gloucester, MA → Rockport, MA → Salem, MA → Boston, MA → Providence, RI.
- Montana: 12/20-12/31. Philipsburg, Missoula, Anaconda, Helena, Butte. Eye-opening.
- New York City: many times
CONCERTS & SHOWS
Looks like it was a Broadway year! Four Broadways shows, three orchestras, two operas, two bands, and a few student recitals. Not bad.
- Lion Versus @ Millcreek Tavern (02/18. My friend Alison played in it.)
- Old York Road Symphony (My sister, Angel, played as a soloist with an orchestra.)
- Tosca by Opera Company of Philadelphia (05/04. Finally watched Tosca in a Theater.)
- The Addams Family @ Broadway (05/15. Good but not great.)
- Miss Saigon @ Walnut Theater (07/06. My second time seeing it. I cried so many times. Definitely a classic!)
- Hair @ Broadway (08/10. BEST THEATER EXPERIENCE EVER! Leon and I got the center seats in the third row. Berger, a very sexy guy, climbed into the audience, played with my hair, and looked at me for a little bit while singing "Donna." At the last song "Let the Sun Shine," the audience was invited to go on stage and sing together. We, being so familiar with the musical, went on stage of course. IT WAS AWESOME!)
- September 11 Memorial Concert (09/10. Angel played as a soloist with an orchestra again.)
- Sloan @ North Star Bar (09/17. Stood at the very first row.)
- The Philadelphia Orchestra College Night Concert @ Kimmel Center (10/06. The Philadelphia Orchestra is really good.)
- Avenue Q @ Broadway (10/29. Very fun, very New York, very everyday life.)
- Die Zauberflöte @ Tomlinson Theater, Temple University (11/18. Nichi and Peggy participated in the opera.)
- Several student concerts at Mannes College
BOOK
Lame. That is my only comment. I really hope I can make better progress in this category this year.
- For One More Day by Mitch Albom (2006) As Albom's other books, this book is filled with a sense of nostalgia. It has a strong ending. His books always bring out my tears.(米契.艾爾邦的《再給我一天》跟他的其他書一樣,充滿了濃濃的懷想感。這本書有很強的結尾。他的書總是讓我流淚。)
